An Evening of Cooperative Economics with Kali Akuno, Co-Founder of Cooperation Jackson.
Come and learn about how African-Americans in Jackson, Mississippi, are implementing a radical plan for Afrikan peoples’ economic empowerment through cooperative economics. Under the name Cooperation Jackson, the strategy is based on the Kush Plan. It is turning Jackson, Mississippi, into one of the leading places for radical political and economic thinking. Since 2005, three cooperatives have been established: Freedom Farms, The Green Team Landscaping Coop, and the Community Production Centre.
In addition over 30 houses have been acquired as part of a community Land Trust. A number of other cooperatives are being developed, including a supermarket, Auto Repair, Food Service/Catering, and Health Care Cooperatives.
